As soon as you join the D.I.R.E.C.T. Combatives Self-defense program, you will have set out on an exciting journey onto the road of warriorhood. You will be challenged physically, psychologically, and emotionally, and it is in these three areas that you will develop your skills and character as a warrior. You will learn how to think creatively to spontaneously problem solve. Your body will learn a whole new range of movements that will allow you to move in ways that are unexpected and powerful. Together we will analyze and explore every aspect of self-defense in an organized progression, while keeping the training fun and dynamic.

D.I.R.E.C.T. Combatives (Deceptive Innovative Responses, Enabling Creative Tactics) is a very practical fighting system that has wells of depth and wisdom buried in its principles. It will attract those with a keen eye to appreciate its subtle yet decisive and tactically sound fundamentals. D.I.R.E.C.T. Combatives covers all areas, aspects, and stages of self-defense. Taking in to account all factors of a street fight, D.I.R.E.C.T. Combatives will prepare you for punches, kicks, grabs, knives, sticks, and multiple attackers. You will learn to fight from a chair, on the ground, in a car and any other situation you may find yourself in.

The goal of the D.I.R.E.C.T. Combative fighting system is to build “The Spontaneous Warrior“: A warrior that does not plan his moves, nor prearrange his techniques. A Creative Warrior who knows how to improvise and problem solve. You may be surprised to learn that D.I.R.E.C.T. Combatives does not teach moves. Chaim believes that doing thousands of repetitions of ABC techniques and prearranged Kata will not develop your problem solving skills. Instead, D.I.R.E.C.T. Combatives is based on the principle that “a movement is worth more than a thousand moves”. You will learn movements (such as figure eights with different limbs), that become integrated into your subconscious mind after just a few weeks of practice. Once internalized, you will spontaneously create tactically smart techniques based on the specifics of your given situation. Every situation is different and D.I.R.E.C.T. Combatives will train your mind and body to improvise, adapt, and manipulate your attacker. D.I.R.E.C.T. Combatives will take “thinking out of the box” to a new level. Your body will not be limited by excess tension. Technique repetition is replaced with free flow slow sparring, where you can explore possibilities and experiment to see what works for you. Your mind will see opportunity where others see limitation. You will learn how to think independently on your own two feet.
D.I.R.E.C.T. Combative’s training, approaches a situation from three angles: The physical, the psychological, and the emotional.” Developing a high awareness of emotions like fear, anger, and pride”, Chaim believes, “is a critical, yet often overlooked area of training”. Training is taken to a new level with realistic scenario based drills to become familiar with the psychological and emotional dynamics of a fight. Students learn how to achieve a “flow” state of mind where performance is at its highest level and to remain calm and relaxed despite the stress of fear and pain. A body full of tension is a mind full of tension. By cleansing the body from excess tension, D.I.R.E.C.T. Combatives will help you overcome the stress and chaos of a real fight.
Chaim believes that a complete and well rounded fighting system should help you become a better, calmer, nobler human being. Not a more aggressive one. D.I.R.E.C.T. Combatives teaches students how to develop a healthy self-esteem and confidence, that is not based on ego and a haughty self-image. His system works intensely on innovative stress drills designed to condition the mind and body to control the effects of stress on one’s performance and thinking. Many of these drills help the student break through fears and phobias. This sort of training, helps one stay calm not only in fighting, but in life as well. A comprehensive fighting system helping you be victorious in all your battles, both within and from without.
D.I.R.E.C.T. Combatives is one of the few systems that have a therapeutic element to it. None of the movements you will learn is damaging to joints, nervous system or the body as a whole. Chaim constantly emphasizes that all your work should be done in a positive and emotionally healthy state. To constantly let your mind and body be flooded with uncontrolled anger and tension is neither tactically smart nor emotionally healthy. D.I.R.E.C.T. Combative’s movements will heal you and leave you feeling calm and rejuvenated.
